Traffic Enforcement and Management
Bus/Emergency lane enforcement system
Enhance the service delivery of public transport by ensuring transit lanes remains free from unauthorised vehicles. The system can use a number of detection methods and configurations dependant on the vehicle classification needs. Vehicles images are captured by a high repetition digital camera system as they cross the bus lane camera station with an infrared flash activated when the ambient light is insufficient. This high resolution camera system enables positive identification of an offending vehicle from a single photograph. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is used to process the image and details of the number plates. Where travel is allowed by unauthorised vehicles over a limited distance in a transit lane (for turning purposes), two camera systems are used, installed further apart than the distance that a vehicle can legally travel. If the vehicle travels past both cameras, OCR is used to match the images and an offence is generated.
